On April 3rd, 1987 is a day of great historical importance in the history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at as it was on this day, under powerful Divine inspiration, that Hadrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah have mercy on him), launched the Waqfe Nau Scheme. He had a vision that with the dawn of the second century of Ahmadiyyat, countless avenues would be opened for the spread and domination of Islam through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at. He proposed to the Community to dedicate their children to the cause of Islam before their birth. The Community has enthusiastically received this initiative from its inception, it can be ascertained from the fact that thousands of children are now enrolled into this project and increasing by the day.

He explained that the Jama‘at would need a large number of devotees well-versed in both spiritual and secular knowledge to cause a revolution in the field of preaching. To achieve this noble purpose, Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IV of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, announced a splendid initiative known as the “Waqfe Nau Scheme“. The members of the Jama‘at responded well to his call as always and thousands devoted their children to serve the cause of Islam. These children are an asset to the Jama‘at-e-Ahmadiyya, they are going to play an unprecedented role in spreading the name and faith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), all over the world.

Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah have mercy on him), delivered a number of Friday sermons in which he explained the importance of this blessed scheme and how to bring up these children. He advised Wakalat Waqfe Nau to prepare a syllabus for these children as a means to provide guidance for their education and training. Wakalat Waqfe Nau prepared a syllabus in Urdu for Waqfe Nau up to the age of 17.

From the very beginning when he was elected as Khalifah, Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V (may Allah support him with His Mighty help), has taken a great interest in this scheme and has guided the Jama‘at on a number of occasions through Friday sermons and meetings with executives of the Jama‘at. In spite of his great responsibilities and heavy engagements, he has personally been involved in the teaching and training of the Waqifeen-e-Nau children. Waqfe Nau Ahmadi children are taught the Holy Quran, Ahadith, Islamic Teachings and world languages like English, Spanish, German, Urdu, French at a special languages training school set up for this purpose worldwide.

He proposed to the Community to dedicate their children to the cause of Islam before their birth. The Community has enthusiastically received this initiative from its inception, it can be ascertained from the fact that thousands of children are now enrolled into this project and increasing by the day.

Waqifat-e-Nau: First Magazine For Waqifat-e-Nau - “MARYAM” (in English “Mary”)

“MARYAM” a magazine has been launched for the Waqfe Nau girls from London. This periodical “Maryam” (in English “Mary”) has an added significance of being the first magazine to be launched at central level for the Waqfe Nau (Life Devotee) girls. It is essential for the Waqfe Nau girls to remember the history of Waqf. It was a woman who first dedicated her child before its birth and that Waqfe Nau was also a woman called “Maryam” (in English ‘Mary’).

Maryam (Mary)’s parents who had dedicated her did her Tarbiyyat (Divine Education) with such excellence that she in turn understanding the significance of her status fulfilled the demands of the Waqf (Life Devotee) in a manner whereby the God of the Heavens mentioned her in the Holy Quran as a goddess of chastity and honour and a woman who spent her life with absolute sanctity and piety. Her purity and Taqwa (righteousness) has thus become an everlasting example.

In accordance with the same spirit, parents of Waqifat-e-Nau dedicated their children before they were born and as these children grow they have re-affirmed their pledge of loyalty with equal sincerity. This status of their Waqf and the honour that gores with it is not a trivial matter, but this reverence can only become their pride and joy if they fulfil the demands of the Waqf and live their life with absolute loyalty to the Institute of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya. When we read the entire history about other religions and civilisations, we will find that it is only Islam that has bestowed dignity and grandeur upon a woman while others show severe lack of it.

It has always been a woman’s pride and joy to be fully dedicated and a complete Muslim both in the past and even now in the present day. In the early days of Islam women delivered commendable and admirable feats both in knowledge and its application. A woman has never shown lesser abilities than men in any field whether it was war, prayer or resolute worship, agriculture or delivering Dars of teaching, business or medicine and surgery any intellectual or practical platform.

It was these women who while adorned with magnificent jewels of complete Islamic teachings and remaining within the limits of pardah (Islamic Veil), addressed gatherings of thousands of men and delivered Dars as well to them. And when they entered the domain of trust and Taqwa (righteousness), devotion and rigorous religious dedications they excelled equally in them gaining Allah’s nearness. It was the Muslim women who carried forward the flag of knowledge and its application during the preliminary era of Islam and it is the Ahamdi women now who have kept the same banner aloft during the secondary period of Islam, and Ahmadiyyat - the true Islam. Likewise the Waqifat-e-Nau girls, are expected to keep the flag of knowledge and its application flying higher than any other standard. You must not let your heart and sight come under the influence of West’s fake liberties and comforts since lurking behind them are frightful and petrifying scenes that take possession of bodies and souls and bind them in such confinements that humanity is drawn into an abyss from where both spiritual and worldly aspects are buried forever. It therefore becomes more significant that you do not let the world’s new inventions and their attractions dominate your lifestyle. Instead it is mandatory for you to take forward the religious objectives of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah and Mahdi and to always be ready to serve your religious obligations. For this you need to march onwards with sky as your limit with your minds, knowledge and its applications rising to reach the celestial heights. If in actual fact you do wish to acquire these eminent positions, you need to imbue your hearts from the Eternal Light that shines from the writings of the Imam of the Latter Days, The Promised Messiah (as). Let the directives and advice of the Khalifa-e-Ahmadiyya become the beacon for you as these teachings will make you the recipients of an eternal life. These are the addresses that breathe life into the lifeless hearts and lift one from depleted state to the elevation of the heavens where even the angles take pride to converse with them. Thus you should always bear in mind that this life-giving nectar can only be obtained from Ahmadiyyat - the true Islam. If you are able to get to the depths of this point and mould yourself accordingly to accomplish the objectives of being Waqfe Nau and spend your lives in the light of these propositions, you will certainly succeed in gaining the best of the both worlds.

Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Promised Messiah has said:
“I tell you truthfully that those attaining life from the hands of the Masih have died, but whosoever drinks from the goblet that has been given to me, will never die. If there is anyone else who can speak the same way as my life-giving talks and say all those words of wisdom that I utter from my mouth, let it be known that I am not from Allah Almighty. But if this wisdom and knowledge which is the life giving water for the dead in hearts, is not available from another source you have no excuse for the crime of your denial of the Fountainhead that was opened in the heavens.” (Azala Auham, Roohani Khazain Vol.3 P.104)
He further said:
“Anyone who wishes that we love him and our humble and passionate prayers for him reach the heavens, he has to convince us of his ability to be servant of the faith (deen).” (Malfoozat Vol.1 P.311)
May Allah Almighty give Waqifat-e-Nau these abilities and enable them to serve the faith in all its intensity with their heart and soul…. (Ameen!)

ISMA‘IL - First Magazine For Waqifeen-e-Nau

Written By: Deeba Chaudhry

By the Grace of Allah Almighty! The first magazine “ISMA‘IL” for Waqifeen-e-Nau (Life Devotee) has been launched at a time when it coincides with the Tehrik Waqf-e-Nau scheme approaching its 25th year, Alhamdolillah. Allah Almighty may affirm this has blessed in every respect… (Ameen!).
The magazine has been named “ISMA‘IL”, which reminds us of the sacrifices made by Hadhrat Islamail (as) and by Hadhrat Hajira (as) who spent their lives in a desolate and barren place and instituted exceptional standards of sacrifices for the same of religion. Likewise, it is expected of every Waqif (Life Devotee) to uphold the covenant of Waqf (dedication) made by their parents even before their birth, who have in turn themselves the high qualities of Waqf in the light of the standards set by Hadhrat Ismail (as) whose sacrifices were accepted by Allah Almighty and who was blessed with the Perfect Man from his lineage. It was this Perfect Man who instigated the great spiritual revolution turning the wild nomads into a civilised race and inspired them to achieve and reflect on the attributes of Allah Almighty. The sacrifices made by them were of a lofty standard, which, in the history of Islam, will be remembered as a golden era. Without being part of an organised structure, they dedicated their lives unreservedly and were fully prepared for every sacrifice to serve the cause of their religion.

Every Waqif (Life Devotee), without a shadow of a doubt, is Waqfe Zindagi (dedicated for life) whether or not he is engaged in practical terms to serve the Jama’at. His every word and deed should reflect the highest qualities of a Waqf-e-Zindagi, the epitome of which is Taqwa (fear of Allah). Waqifeen-e-Nau should always bear in mind that they ought to follow the path of Taqwa and every work that they undertake is done only to achieve Allah’s pleasure. Safeguard your Salaat and contemplate upon the Quranic teachings and to apply them to your daily life. For our reformation, Allah Almighty has bestowed upon us the perfect and the true Disciple of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as the Promised Messiah and Madhi (as). By taking an oath of allegiance to him, we have pledged that we will give precedence to religion over all worldly affairs. We will not achieve this until our words and deeds are in total submission to the Quranic teachings and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
In order to the fulfill Waqf wholly and in a true sense, Waqifeen-e-Nau ought to lead their lives in complete submission to the Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and in compliance with the elucidations of the Imam of this age, the Promised Messiah (as). May you accomplish this with Allah’s Grace, Ameen!
